The Faridah Awang Scholars Program proudly supports merit- and need-based scholars. Scholars are recognized for their capacity to excel, lead, and serve, as well as their commitment to make a significant impact on their communities and countries.
Merit-based Scholarships*
1. Marcia A. Anderson Merit Scholarship
Award Amount: US $1,000.
Recipients: The number of awards offered varies annually, non-renewable.
Deadline: Accepting application now through May 23, 2023.
Additional Information: The applicant’s scholastic ability, character, leadership, potential service to the profession, and need for financial assistance are all considered by The Faridah Awang Scholars Program board members when selecting the scholarship recipients.
This award is available for international and U.S. graduate students who pursue masters and doctoral programs in their fields of study. Scholars must have and maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.75/4.0 or higher.
2. Wook Ismail Merit Scholarship
Award Amount: US $1,000.
Recipients: The number of awards offered varies annually, non-renewable.
Deadline: Accepting application now through May 23, 2023.
Additional Information: The applicant’s academic achievement, demonstrated leadership, as well as school and community service are all considered by The Faridah Awang Scholars Program board members when selecting the scholarship recipients.
This award is available for international and U.S. students who pursue an undergraduate or graduate degrees in their fields of study. Scholars must commit to maintain a 3.50/4.0 cumulative grade point average throughout their undergraduate or graduate college careers. Scholars are also required to participate in community service activities in their home and/or school community.
Need-based Scholarships*
1. Asiah Khamis Scholarship
Award Amount: US $500.
Recipients: The number of awards offered varies annually, non-renewable.
Deadline: Accepting application now through May 23, 2023.
Additional Information: Applicants must demonstrate financial need and priority will be given to first-generation college students.
This award is available to international and U.S. students who demonstrate educationally and economically disadvantaged backgrounds and are attending high schools or universities in their fields of study.
2. Hashim Jamani Scholarship
Award Amount: US $500.
Recipients: The number of awards offered varies annually, non-renewable.
Deadline: Accepting application now through May 23, 2023.
Additional Information: Applicants must demonstrate financial need and priority will be given to students who are born in or residents of Johor, Kelantan, and Terengganu.
This award is available to high schools and undergraduate students who demonstrate educationally and economically disadvantaged backgrounds and are attending high schools or universities in their fields of study.
*Any student who withdraws from school, college, or university for any reason is expected to notify the Faridah Awang Scholars Program, Inc. of his/her status and refund the scholarship.
